SANAA, Dec. 9 (YPA) – Yemeni army’s spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sarie said that the Saudi-led coalition and its militiamen moved towards military escalation away from the UN peace consultations in Sweden, in a statement said on Sunday.
The coalition waged over 15 airstrikes and dozens of ground attacks on Yemeni territories over the past 12 hours, he told state Saba news agency.
The attacks concentrated on Saada, Bayda, Hodeidah, and Sanaa province.
“At least 455 of the militiamen have been killed and wounded during the past six days when the army failed 13 attempts to infiltrate towards several positions of the army in the several fronts,” he said.
“The coalition’s attacks came simultaneously with the beginning of the UN-backed peace consultations in Sweden and that contradict with the peace efforts,” Sarie said.
The spokesman, however, said the Yemeni army repelled all the attacks, killing and injuring scores of the militiamen.
The spokesman stressed that the Yemeni army has the right to respond to any military escalation by the coalition.
