US State Department warns its citizens not travel to Iraq
SANAA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – The US State Department on Friday warned its citizens to not travel to Iraq after less than a month of similar warnings issued because of what it called the threat of terrorism and armed conflict in Iraq.
“US citizens are very vulnerable to violence and kidnapping in Iraq,” the ministry said in a press release on Friday (Oct. 19, 2018).
The ministry confirmed that its ability to provide normal services and emergency services to US citizens in Iraq is very limited.
“Many armed and terrorist groups remain active in Iraq and attack civilians and security forces,” the statement said.
The warning is the second in three weeks, On September 28, the US State Department issued a warning to its citizens to not travel to Iraq, specifically Basra, after the closure of its consulate in Basra for security reasons.
