SANAA, Sept. 10 (YPA) – France’s Lyon airport temporarily closed its runway on Monday as police chased a man rammed a passenger building and drove it through the runway before police arrested him, police and judicial sources said.
The car rushed to the restricted runway area, followed by police cars and a helicopter after chasing them on a nearby road, a police source said.
An official at the local public prosecutor’s office said that the driver left his car and tried to flee on foot but was arrested and surrounded by officers.
The man’s motives were not yet known, and his identity was not disclosed. a police source added.
The flight-tracking application Flightradar24 said that “Nobody was injured in the incident but several flights had to be diverted”.
The airport said on its Twitter account that the flights stopped until further notice.
