Washington sends 100 extra marines to Tanf base
SANAA, Sep. 10 (YPA) – The United States has sent military reinforcements to Tanf base adjacent to the Iraqi-Syrian border, the Russian news agency Sputnik reported on Sunday.
The Sputnik reported that these reports come amid media reports that the US claimed that the Russian army had warned Washington of an attack by the Russian army aganist terrorist groups near the US military base.
The agency said the Pentagon sent reinforcements of more than 100 US Marines after it claimed that Russia had revealed its intent to launch precision strikes on an area controlled by US-led coalition forces.
The agency added that a statement of Pentagon did not say the reinforcements were sent as a precautionary measure, but Central Command spokesman Captain William Urban said that “troops going to the area will conduct several days training using live ammunition.”
The Russian agency pointed out that US officials who dealt with the Syrian issue have recently claimed that the administration is now determined to stay in Syria for a longer period than President Trump previously pointed out.
