Congressman calls for investigation into U.S. role in civilians causalities in Yemen
SANAA, Aug. 15 (YPA)- U.S. Congressman, Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) Ted Liu called for an investigation into the Pentagon’s involvement in Saudi-led coalition attacks on civilian sites in Yemen.
“The coalition has bombed civilian sites more than once, including schools, hospitals, funerals, and weddings, which are far from military targets,” Lieu wrote in a letter to the Department of Defense Inspector General.
In the letter, he called for an investigation into whether U.S. personnel supporting Saudi and Emeriti coalition operations in Yemen are violating DoD regulations, the Law of Armed Conflict, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, federal statutes or international law.
He expressed concern over the US support for those who might have committed war crimes, stressing this would endanger US officials from a legal point of view.

The letter came after the US-backed Saudi-led coalition air strikes hit a school bus in Dhahyan district in the northern of Saada province, killing and injuring 131 civilians most of them are children.
