Taiz authorities accuse Saudi-backed forces of obstructing medical aid for fifth day

TAIZ, Oct. 25 (YPA) – The local authority in Taiz Governorate, affiliated with the Sanaa government, said Saudi-backed forces had delayed the entry of humanitarian and medical aid into the city for the fifth consecutive day, despite coordination with international organizations.

An official source in the local authority said the Saudi-backed forces had requested a delay in the delivery of medical supplies from Sanaa intended for the city’s hospitals, fearing that allowing the shipments in would violate directives from Riyadh.

The source said the forces were fully aware of the hardship their decision was causing residents, adding that the welfare of Taiz’s population was not a priority for them.

The source also accused the Saudi-backed forces of deliberately aggravating civilians’ suffering, saying this contradicted their repeated attempts to portray themselves in the media as defenders of the city through misleading statements and propaganda.
