Aden residents demand removal of military camps from residential areas

ADEN, Oct. 24 (YPA) – Residents and activists in Yemen’s southern coast city of Aden demanded on Saturday that the leadership of the Saudi forces evacuate all military camps, weapons depots, and military build-ups from residential neighborhoods and areas, aiming to ensure the safety of civilians and their properties.

The demands came in the wake of missile strikes launched by Sanaa forces targeting Saudi-backed mobilizations’ gatherings and weapons depots inside al-Nasr Camp in al-Arish area of Khormaksar District, in addition to the Coast Guard headquarters building in Tawahi. The strikes prompted ambulances to rush to the targeted sites amid reports of casualties.

Activists explained that Aden has transformed into a military barracks as a result of the continuous influx of pro-Saudi factions and military equipment from the governorates of Hadramout, Shabwa, Abyan, and Lahj, as well as the arrival of equipment via Aden International Airport and the al-Abr road. They called for relocating military headquarters and weapons depots outside population centers to shield them from the risks of direct targeting.

The activists held full responsibility for the situation to the leadership of the Saudi forces in Aden—represented by delegate Falah al-Shahrani and officer Mohammed Talal al-Balawi—along with Presidential Leadership Council member Abdul Rahman al-Maharami and Aden Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh.
