OCCUPIED QUDS, Oct. 14 (YPA) – Colombia opened its new embassy in occupied Quds (Jerusalem) on Wednesday, joining a limited group of countries that have established diplomatic representation with the Zionist entity in the city, in a move that has attracted attention against the backdrop of international positions on the status of Jerusalem.
This move reflects a political shift—spearheaded by right-wing President Abelardo de la Espriella—aimed at strengthening ties with the Zionist entity, contrasting with the stance of his leftist predecessor, Gustavo Petro, who had severed relations in May 2024 in protest against the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip.
The inauguration follows the new Colombian government’s announcement last August recognizing the Israeli occupation’s sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
