Canadian activists call for arms embargo on Israeli occupation

OTTAWA, Oct. 14 (YPA) – Pro-Palestinian activists targeted the Geospectrum Technologies facility in Peterborough, Ontario, which is wholly owned by the Israeli military company Elbit Systems. The action was claimed by the Palestine Action Canada group.

The activists accused Elbit of profiting from operations against Palestinians, stating that dozens of Canadian companies supply components for tanks, drones, and ammunition used to kill Palestinians with the support of the Canadian state, pointing out that Geospectrum develops and tests maritime surveillance technologies with the Canadian Navy and National Defence.

The group called on the Canadian government to halt military and commercial cooperation with the occupation, impose a comprehensive arms embargo, and sever ties with Elbit and its suppliers, based on the International Court of Justice’s July 2024 advisory opinion declaring the occupation illegal.

The action is part of the group’s “Ban Arms Now” campaign.
