Fierce clashes break out in Marib’s Harib district

MARIB, Oct. 12 (YPA) – Fierce clashes erupted on Monday between Sanaa armed forces and Saudi-backed troops north of Harib district in Marib province, amid escalating confrontations following an attempted military advance toward Sanaa forces’ positions in the area.

Local sources in Marib told the Yemen Press Agency that Saudi-backed forces from the Saba Axis, supported by southern recruits from the Beihan Axis in Shabwa province, advanced from open desert areas under Saudi air cover toward positions of the Sanaa forces at Jabal Zajjar, Al-Hanah, Al-Muqaylat and Jabal Al-Hajla.

According to the sources, Sanaa forces repelled the attack and carried out a flanking maneuver from positions under their control at Jabal Al-Radhah and Thamad, trapping the attacking troops in an encirclement.

The sources said 13 Saudi-backed fighters were killed or wounded. Preliminary reports identified two of the casualties as Abdullah Alawi Al-Sudani Al-Masabi and Abdullah bin Ali Abu Dahan.

Meanwhile, Saudi warplanes launched airstrikes targeting Aqabat Al-Hajla and Jabal Zajjar. Sanaa forces also carried out artillery strikes against desert areas in Wadi Al-Hajla, Qurun Al-Rasid and Al-Qaymah, according to the sources.

No independent information was available at the time of publication to confirm the final casualty toll or provide further details about the outcome of the clashes and the military escalation in northern Harib district.
