TEHRAN, Oct. 03 (YPA) – Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence declared on Saturday that it had dismantled four organized networks involved in street sabotage and arrested 31 key members and individuals linked to the enemy in the southeastern city of Sirjan.
In a statement cited by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the ministry said the four networks comprised 31 individuals whom it described as mercenaries of the US-Zionist enemy.
They were arrested in Sirjan following reports from residents and intelligence surveillance operations.
The ministry alleged that the suspects were part of networks targeting teenagers and young people, with specific assignments and plans for participating in nationwide calls and public protests.
It further added that members of the networks had been preparing to provoke unrest and carry out acts of street sabotage by producing large quantities of Molotov cocktails and making tools to disable surveillance cameras in cities.
According to the ministry, the networks’ members carried out widespread acts of violence and vandalism during the unrest in January, including setting fire to a municipal building, damaging banks and government offices, destroying public and private property and surveillance cameras, and attacking police facilities in an attempt to seize weapons.
