Press conference in Al-Khawkhah district reveals toll of Saudi-led coalition violations

HODEIDA, Sept. 24 (YPA) – A press conference was held Wednesday in Hodeida province reported on the toll of crimes and violations allegedly committed by Saudi-led coalition-affiliated forces against civilians and civilian property in Hays and Al-Khawkhah districts between 2018 and 2026.

The Humanitarian Eye Center for Rights and Development said a total of 343 people were killed, including 89 children and 24 women, while 344 others were wounded, including 57 children and 41 women, as a result of the violations.

The report said 605 homes and residential units and 204 farms and agricultural fields were damaged.

It added that 20 service and health facilities were put out of service, 47 markets and shops were disrupted, and 27 water networks and drinking-water wells were damaged.

Regarding the fishing sector, the report documented the destruction of 4,700 fishing boats and fishing equipment, as well as the killing or wounding of 457 fishermen and the abduction of more than 2,000 others.

It also documented the execution of 13 prisoners on the western coast front in November 2021.

It further documented 14 cases of rape, 23 cases of sexual harassment and nine cases of abduction for sexual violence.

Hodeida Governor Abdullah Atifi called on the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities regarding these violations, ensure justice for the victims and hold those responsible accountable.
