SANAA, Sept. 17 (YPA) – The American military publication “The War Zone” TWZ highlighted that the downing of a Saudi F-15 fighter jet by Sana’a forces serves as another reminder that the Yemenis’ patchwork of air defenses remains a credible and deadly threat.
According to the report, the successful targeting and destruction of a sophisticated multirole fighter like the F-15 underscores the persistent danger posed by Yemeni air defenses.
The reported shootdown highlights the continuing threat posed by Yemeni air defenses, which have proven considerably more capable and difficult to suppress than their improvised appearance might suggest.
The analysis noted that Yemeni air defense networks now present a complex challenge even for modern, highly advanced combat aircraft.
This ongoing threat environment has become a decisive factor, compelling Saudi Arabia to rely on Chinese-made short-range ballistic missiles in its operational strike strategies.
