Massive fires erupt at Saudi oil export port in Yanbu amid attack reports

YANBU, Sept. 15 (YPA) – Massive fires broke out Tuesday at Yanbu, one of Saudi Arabia’s main oil export ports on the Red Sea, amid reports of a major attack by Sanaa forces .

Images released by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) showed large fires in Yanbu, reportedly at nearly 10 locations across the port.

Yanbu serves as an alternative route for Saudi oil exports. Saudi Arabia decided to redirect all of its oil exports through the port following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The reported attack on the port could further deepen Saudi Arabia’s oil export crisis, which has intensified since Sanaa announced a ban on Saudi shipping on July 20.

Saudi Arabia has faced a complete halt in oil exports since Friday after the East-West pipeline, which links Yanbu to the kingdom’s oil fields in the east, was reportedly attacked in Medina.
