Video: Saudi-backed fighters set fire to military vehicles after fleeing western coast fronts

LAHJ, Sept. 12 (YPA) – Armed elements affiliated with Saudi-backed commander Tariq Saleh burned armored vehicles and military equipment rather than handing them over to Saudi-backed factions in Al-Mudharabah and Ras Al-Arah districts of Lahj province, after fleeing Mocha in western Taiz following Sanaa forces’ takeover of western coastal districts.

Saudi-backed militants from the Al-Amaliqa Brigades circulated video footage purportedly showing Tariq Saleh’s forces setting fire to a modern military armored vehicle on the coastal road in Al-Mudharabah, after being prevented from reaching Aden with their personal weapons.

The development came after Tariq Saleh’s forces sold their personal weapons over the past two days at low prices, with an AK-47 reportedly selling for 500 Saudi riyals at a market in Khour Amira, western Lahj.

The Saudi-funded leaders of the Al-Amaliq Brigades and Dera al-Watan armed factions had accused Tariq Saleh of betrayal and ordering his forces to withdraw from all positions and military camps and flee toward Ras Al-Arah.

Reports also said Saleh and some of his associates fled to Aden before traveling to Riyadh accompanied by several Saudi officers who had been present in Mocha, while other reports suggested that he and some supporters fled by sea to Somalia.
