UN: Stocks of essential supplies in the Gaza Strip are insufficient

NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (YPA) –  UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric warned that stocks of essential supplies in the Gaza Strip are insufficient, amid a funding shortfall and continued severe restrictions on the ability of UN partners to replenish them.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday evening and citing UN humanitarian partners, Dujarric stated that Israeli airstrikes and other attacks continue to target populated areas, endangering civilians and causing damage to property.

He pointed to an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday that targeted a building in the Al-Bureij refugee camp near Deir al-Balah—housing two UN schools used as temporary shelters for displaced persons and a UN-supported bakery—resulting in approximately 100 families losing their homes and possessions.

Dujarric reiterated the need to respect civilians and civilian objects at all times, including shelters and humanitarian facilities.
