Hodeida governor renews call on Saudi-backed militants to return home

HODEIDA, Sept. 05 (YPA) – Sanaa-appointed Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi renewed his call on all residents of the provicne serving in Saudi-backed military formations to reconsider their position and return to their families and communities.

In a statement, the governor stressed the need to prevent further bloodshed and protect the security of their families and local communities.

Atifi said the appeal stems from a responsible commitment to preserving social cohesion, prioritizing wisdom and preventing the exploitation of Yemenis in pursuing agendas and plans that serve only external parties.

The governor condemned the shelling of a home in the countryside of Al-Jarahi district on Sunday, which killed an elderly man and his daughter and injured his wife and a relative, holding the Saudi regime and its militants fully responsible for the incident and its consequences.

He added that the Al-Jarahi incident underscores the painful reality that local residents and communities are the first to pay the price for such escalation, warning against ongoing attempts to open new fronts and export crises through the people of the region themselves.

Atifi noted that developments on the ground and the experience of past years have shown that external powers push those serving under their banner to the front lines to bear the brunt of fighting, only to abandon them once their political and military calculations change.

He concluded by urging all those involved in the Saudi-run military buildup to recognize changing realities and draw lessons from the past, stressing that relying on external support and protection is a losing bet and that returning to their communities is the safest option to preserve lives and avoid future consequences that may be difficult to contain.
