LONDON, Sept. 03 (YPA) – Amnesty International stated Thursday that Israeli occupation’s recent decisions to confiscate occupied Palestinian land reflect an expansion of its agenda to annex the West Bank to Israeli sovereignty.
In a statement, the organization reported that the occupation of the West Bank and land confiscations accelerate the annexation of the territory, emphasizing that Israeli occupation authorities continue to seize Palestinian land and construct illegal settlements.
The statement noted that land confiscations disregard the rights of Palestinians under occupation. In July alone, the Israeli occupation military seized 15 parcels of land totaling 20 hectares. Amnesty added that “Israel” plans to build two of 34 illegal settlements slated for construction this year in these specific areas.
Furthermore, the organization stated that military bases are being established through the confiscation of privately owned land, targeting Palestinian Bedouins and herders. It warned that a planned road for illegal settlements in Jenin would isolate the governorate from surrounding Palestinian communities.
