HADRAMOUT, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The Teachers’ Union on Wednesday announced the launch of a comprehensive strike across schools in the districts of coastal Hadramout, eastern Yemen, which are under Saudi influence.
The union said the strike marks the beginning of the third phase of its escalation, aimed at securing teachers’ financial rights from the Saudi-backed government.
It called on educational, administrative, and teaching staff to completely halt teaching until all legal and financial demands are met.
In Mukalla, the strike has affected more than 90 public schools, putting the education of nearly 97,000 students on hold.
