STC reiterates rejection of ‘Saudi dominance,’ refuses involvement in confrontations against Sanaa

ADEN, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Tuesday reiterated its firm rejection of any Saudi-led efforts to impose coordination councils or guardianship projects aimed at liquidating the Southern cause, stressing that its decision-making will not be subject to external influence.

Speaking at Parade Square in Aden on the occasion of “Army Day,” Waddah Al-Halmi, Secretary-General of the STC’s General Secretariat, stated that the southern governorates would not serve as an arena for external bargaining.

He affirmed the council’s refusal to drag its factions into the Saudi war against Sanaa, describing it as “an effort that does not serve southern aspirations.”

Al-Halmi described the STC forces as “a rock upon which ambitions of dominance shatter,” warning Riyadh-backed authorities against continued provocations.

He further demanded the immediate release of detained activists in Aden and Hadramout, calling on human rights organizations to monitor and document campaigns of repression and arbitrary arrests targeting council loyalists since last January.
