Saudi-backed “Emergency” forces break up pro-STC demonstration in Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 01 (YPA) – The “Emergency” forces backed by Saudi Arabia stormed a gathering of women at a hotel in the city of Mukalla, near the site of a popular demonstration called by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) under the slogan “Army Day” to demand an end to Saudi guardianship.

Media and human rights sources confirmed that the armed raid resulted in several women fainting, amid attempts to prevent them from leaving and reaching the event location.

The incident coincided with heightened armed tensions and a heavy security deployment, leading to the closure of main and secondary roads, as well as the city’s entrances and exits, to block crowds arriving from the Hadramout governorate valley districts from accessing the square opposite the governorate headquarters.

In a related context, the “Abdullah Gharib” pass checkpoint detained dozens of participants traveling in vehicles, denying them entry amid operations involving suppression and pursuit to regain control over crowd movements.
