Double tremor strikes eastern Gulf of Aden, Dhamar Governorate

DHAMAR, Aug. 29 (YPA) – The Seismological and Volcanological Observatory Center recorded two minor tremors in the Gulf of Aden and Dhamar Governorate early Saturday morning.

In an official statement, the center reported that its monitoring devices detected a 3.0-magnitude tremor on the Richter scale east of the Gulf of Aden at 4:24 a.m. local time.

The statement added that a second minor quake, measuring 2.1 magnitude, occurred earlier at 4:08 a.m., centered 9 kilometers east of the city of Ma’abar in Dhamar Governorate.

According to the center, such seismic activity falls within the normal range of minor earth tremors recorded in the region from time to time.
