Israeli occupation steals bodies of three Palestinians martyred in Jenin
QUDS, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Palestinian sources reported on Friday that Israeli occupation forces stole the bodies of three Palestinians martyred in Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank.
Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, mourned one of its prominent leaders in the occupied West Bank and two of its fighters, who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the city of Jenin on Friday evening.
In a statement, Hamas also mourned the three Palestinians, describing them as victims of an Israeli occupation airstrike on the Harsh Al-Saada area of Jenin.
The statement said the attack adds to Israel’s record of crimes against Palestinians and would be met with further anger and confrontation. It added the West Bank would remain a center of resistance and that Palestinians would continue to defend their land, rights and national principles.
The Hamas’s statement held Israeli occupation fully responsible for the consequences of the airstrike and the escalating violence, accusing it of pursuing a policy based on killing, destruction and intimidation. It said continued Israeli military operations would not bring security or stability.
The movement called on residents of Jenin and other West Bank provinces to intensify resistance efforts, challenge the occupation security measures, confront attacks by Israeli forces and settlers, and strengthen national unity in the face of plans for killing, annexation and displacement.
It also called on Arab and Muslim countries, the international community, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to act immediately to halt the occupation attacks against Palestinians and their land and to end a state of impunity encouraging further violations.
Local sources reported that Qais Al-Batawi, a leader of the Qassam Brigades, along with two of his companions, was killed in the Israeli airstrike on Harsh Al-Saada. The occupation forces subsequently imposed a tight security cordon around the area after deploying large numbers of troops near the site.
Israeli occupation’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said the operation in Jenin was the result of Israeli offensive policy in the West Bank.
The occupied West Bank has witnessed an unprecedented escalation by the occupation forces in recent weeks, amid efforts to impose conditions aimed at displacing Palestinians, as part of plans referred to by the occupation’s leaders as “Judea and Samaria” during the Israeli genocidal war.
