BRUSSELS, Aug. 27 (YPA) – The European Union (EU) and 12 nations on Thursday condemned recent Israeli occupation measures against the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), calling on “Israel” to halt its interference in the agency’s activities.
The condemnation follows the Israeli occupation forces’ raid on an UNRWA training center in Qalandia and the takeover of agency facilities in East Jerusalem (Quds) two days ago.
The joint statement was signed by 12 member countries of the UNRWA Advisory Commission: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
The signatories stated that UN premises are protected under the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities and international law, urging “Israel” to uphold its international commitments and “cease all forms of interference in UNRWA’s work without delay.”
