ABYAN, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Heavy armed clashes erupted today between tribal gunmen in the Khanfir district, located in Yemen’s Abyan governorate. The fighting comes as a long-standing dispute between the rival factions flared up once again.
Local sources reported that the fighting broke out in Wadi Miklan between members of the Al-Akki and Al-Haydara Mansour tribes over an agricultural land dispute dating back about a month.
The earlier clash left two brothers from the Al-Haydarai family dead.
According to the sources, tensions escalated following the expiration of a temporary truce, fueled by involvement from Saudi-backed forces and the ongoing failure to hand over suspects in the previous killings to security authorities for legal action.
The sources indicated that clashes are still ongoing, with no precise figures yet available regarding casualties or material damage.
