MUKALLA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Saudi military reinforcements arrived in Mukalla, the capital of Yemen’s eastern Hadramout province, on Tuesday as part of field operations to redeploy forces aligned with Riyadh across the province’s coastal districts.
Eyewitnesses said vehicles and personnel affiliated with the Saudi-backed “Emergency” forces arrived at Riyan Airport in Mukalla from the al-Abr area in Wadi Hadramout.
The military movements come amid new security arrangements and growing public mobilization by the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the city.
The STC called for the removal of Saudi-backed Hadramout Governor Salem al-Khanbashi, citing the deterioration of basic services and his failure to manage the province.
