IDLIB, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Israeli occupation aircraft launched four airstrikes early Tuesday targeting the runway of Abu al-Duhur Military Airbase in the eastern countryside of Idlib, causing material damage with no reported casualties, according to Syrian media.
The strike marks the first of its kind on Abu al-Duhur Airbase since the fall of the former Syrian regime. It follows reports by Israeli media, including Channel 13, stating that Washington had rejected an Israeli request to conduct strikes on targets inside Syrian territory, without revealing the nature of those targets.
The airstrikes coincide with repeated incursions by Israeli occupation forces in southern Syria, accompanied by the establishment of military checkpoints, search operations, and the detention of civilians. Israeli forces claim these actions are linked to regional security threats.
Broadcasting outlets noted that the attack was attributed to “Israel”, though it has not officially claimed responsibility.
Abu al-Duhur Airbase is located in the southeastern countryside of Idlib, approximately 27 kilometers east of Saraqib, adjacent to the town of Abu al-Duhur. Strategically positioned between Idlib, Hama, and Aleppo governorates near the Syrian Badia, the airbase historically served as a major military stronghold and operational hub for Syrian armed forces in the region.
