HADRAMOUT, Aug. 13 (YPA) – Around 17 recruits were killed and injured on Thursday in an explosion at a Saudi-backed camp in Al-Abr area of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, according to preliminary figures.
Local sources said ambulances rushed to the site to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, while Saudi-backed forces imposed a security cordon around the camp amid heightened military tensions.
The explosion came a day after two Saudi officers were killed and another injured in an explosive-device blast in the desert between Al-Ruwik in Marib and Al-Abr in Hadramout.
The incident also comes amid growing tensions and reported defections among Saudi-backed factions, particularly southern and eastern Yemeni recruits refusing to take part in fighting against Sanaa forces.
