HADRAMOUT, Aug. 12 (YPA) – Two Saudi officers were killed and a third was critically injured on Wednesday afternoon when an improvised explosive device (IED), planted by unidentified gunmen, detonated in the desert area connecting the Al-Ruwaik camp in Marib Governorate and the Al-Abar area in Hadramout Governorate.
According to local sources, Saudi officers, Rakan Abdullah Al-Shehri and Abdullah Musaed Al-Talhi, were killed in the explosion, and Turki Fayez Al-Asmari was seriously injured in the head and neck and was transferred to Al-Wadeeah Hospital for treatment.
The incident comes amid tensions between Saudi Arabia and leaders of factions and groups brought to the region by Riyadh following earlier missile strikes by Sanaa forces.
The Saudi Force Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the attack.
