Saudi artillery, air shelling targets Saada; human rights body condemns border violations

SAADA, Aug. 12 (YPA) – Saudi artillery and air shelling renewed on Wednesday on border areas in Saada Governorate, northern Yemen.

Local security sources in the governorate reported that artillery fire targeted the densely populated area of Bani Ma’in in Razih District, coming 24 hours after Saudi drone strikes hit the Ghawr Al-Mashwat area in Ghamr District with two projectiles.

In response, the National Human Rights Commission in Yemen strongly condemned the shelling of Razih District. In an official statement, the authority emphasized that the systematic targeting violates international humanitarian law and constitutes a explicit breach of the Geneva Conventions.

The Commission held Saudi Arabia fully responsible for the damages and the terrorization of civilians, calling on the UN Security Council, the UN Envoy, and the international community to take urgent action, condemn the attacks, and compel Saudi Arabia to cease targeting border areas.
