Despite heavy rain, millions rally across Yemen in support of “blockade-for-blockade” policy
SANAA, July 31 (YPA) – Despite the heavy rain, millions of Yemenis gathered in the capital, Sana’a, and other cities on Friday for mass rallies in support of decisions announced by the leader of the Ansarullah movement, Seyyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, and the Yemeni Armed Forces, under the slogan, “Blockade for Blockade… Escalation for Escalation.”
A statement issued by the rallies’ organizers outlined Yemen’s positions on recent political and military developments.
The statement renewed what it described as the Yemeni people’s absolute authorization for Seyyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi to take whatever decisions he deems necessary to lift the blockade on Yemen and restore the country’s sovereignty and control over its natural resources.
Participants also reaffirmed their support for operations carried out by the Yemeni Armed Forces and for maintaining the “blockade-for-blockade, escalation-for-escalation” strategy against Saudi Arabia.
The statement welcomed the imposition of a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, describing it as a reciprocal measure that would remain in place until the blockade on Yemen is lifted and the country’s sovereignty, resources, and freedom are restored.
Participants also expressed readiness to bear “the costs of the battle,” arguing that the cost of confrontation is lower than the cost of retreat.
The rally further endorsed the military responses announced by the Yemeni Armed Forces following what it described as Saudi escalation, including attacks on Hodeidah province and drone incursions into Yemeni airspace.
It also voiced support for military operations targeting vessels that, according to the statement, violated the maritime ban.
The statement condemned what it described as “US-Saudi aggression” against Iraq and its security institutions, warning that efforts to reshape the Middle East and advance a “Greater Israel” project pose a serious threat to the region.
On the anniversary of the martyrdom of leader Ismail Haniyeh, the statement reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as continued support for Gaza and all fronts of the axis of jihad and resistance.
It also reiterated Yemen’s commitment to the “unity of the fronts of Islam and jihad” and rejected allowing any single front to confront Israel alone.
The statement called on the peoples of the Muslim world to mobilize against Zionist schemes targeting their holy sites and seeking to exploit their resources.
