IBB, July 25 (YPA) – The Ministry of Interior in Sanaa has disclosed details regarding a security incident in Al-Sha’ar District, Ibb Governorate, which resulted in the deaths of two security personnel and the injury of five others, alongside the death of a wanted suspect identified as Ahmed Saleh Muthanna Al-Ghazali, 55.
According to Security Media, a security force moved to arrest Al-Ghazali pursuant to a judicial arrest warrant issued by the prosecution over a shooting offense. However, the suspect refused to surrender and barricaded himself inside his residence, prompting security forces to impose a five-day siege on the property.
On the sixth day, the suspect detonated a gas cylinder, causing the deaths of two security officers and injuring five others, as well as inflicting burns and injuries on his 15-year-old daughter. Following his attempt to flee the house, security forces pursued the suspect, who opened fire at them. Officers responded in accordance with the law, killing the suspect during an exchange of gunfire.
Relevant authorities are continuing to complete legal procedures.
