Hamas welcomes Belgium’s ban on settlement products, calls on other countries to follow suit

WEST BANK, July 19 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas welcomed the Belgian government’s announcement of a ban on importing products from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, considering the decision a “historic step” in line with international law.

 

In a press statement, the movement said the ban contributes to countering Israel’s attempts to legitimize its settlement policies, constitutes a practical measure to reduce support for settlement activities and sending a message of the international community’s rejection of the occupation’s policies.

 

In addition, Hamas called on the world’s countries to take similar steps by boycotting settlement products, isolating the occupation internationally, holding it accountable for the crimes committed against the Palestinians, and supporting Palestinian rights, foremost among them ending the occupation and self-determination.
