DAMASCUS, July 16 (YPA) – Teachers in the city of Hasakah organized a peaceful sit-in today in front of the Directorate of Education building, demanding the payment of their delayed salaries.
Dozens of male and female teachers involved in the integration process between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Interim Government have not received their salaries for two months.
Protesters called for their permanent appointment within the Directorate of Education’s staffing structure, describing it as a legitimate right.
They called on the Interim Government to pay teachers’ salaries, stressing that living conditions and daily obligations have become extremely difficult, and that the salary delays have negatively affected their ability to meet basic necessities.
The demonstrators further called on the authorities to take immediate action to ensure the regular payment of salaries and end uncertainty over their entitlements, saying this is vital for the stability of the education sector and the protection of teachers’ rights.
