DAMASCUS, July 16 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces targeted residential homes in the village of Ma’ariya in the Yarmouk Basin area of the western countryside of Daraa Governorate, southern Syria, with heavy machine guns.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Thursday that the heavy gunfire originated from the “Al-Jazeera” military barracks belonging to the occupation forces and stationed opposite the area, explaining that the indiscriminate fire reached civilian homes and caused panic among the residents, without any reported injuries.
On Tuesday, the villages’ residents blocked the road leading to the Al-Jazeera barracks with stones in protest against the continued Israeli incursions and military movements in the area, amid the absence of any response or action by the Syrian authorities.
