UN Envoy “Grundberg” calls for inclusive talks to maintain calm in Yemen
SANAA, July 14 (YPA) – The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, conducted a series of diplomatic meetings in Muscat, Oman, aimed at de-escalating tensions, maintaining the relative calm, and preparing for the resumption of an inclusive UN-led political process.
During his visit, Grundberg held talks with senior Omani officials and Mohammad Abdulsalam, the chief negotiator of the Sanaa-based Ansarallah movement.
The discussions focused on the urgent need for immediate de-escalation and securing an agreed-upon path to sustain the relative calm established under the 2022 truce.
The Special Envoy emphasized that all parties must engage in UN-mediated negotiations addressing both short-term and long-term priorities across the three mediation tracks: political, military/security, and economic, to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the conflict.
