Qatari delegation arrives in Tehran for talks amid regional tensions

TEHRAN, July 10 (YPA) – A Qatari political delegation arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Friday to hold talks with Iranian officials following recent developments in the region.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that the Qatari delegation, headed by an adviser to the Qatari foreign minister, traveled to the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Qatari delegation’s primary objective is to solidify Doha’s role as a mediator and work toward de-escalating the situation, according to the agency.

It added that the visit comes after Qatar accused Iran of involvement in an alleged incident in the Strait of Hormuz, which was followed by US military strikes on Wednesday and Thursday targeting several Iranian military and civilian sites.
