WASHINGTON, July 01 (YPA) – About 187 members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted on Wednesday in favor of a resolution calling for an end to U.S. military aid to Israeli occupation.
The resolution, introduced by Representative Delia Ramirez of Illinois, called for ending U.S. support for the Israeli occupation government’s “ethnic cleansing campaign in Lebanon.”
Although the measure did not secure the majority needed for passage, supporters described the vote as a notable indication of increasing congressional calls to place conditions on or restrict U.S. military assistance to the occupation, amid continued domestic pressure to end the aggression and protect civilians.
The vote comes as recent opinion polls have shown declining public support in the United States for unconditional military aid to the occupation.
