QUDS, June 30 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation’s Ministry of Defense has signed a major contract worth approximately 21 million shekels with Israeli security technology company Magos to purchase hundreds of advanced radar systems aimed at countering drone threats from Hezbollah along the northern border.
According to Israeli media reports, the new radar systems will be widely deployed along the border with Lebanon to enhance early warning and detection capabilities, particularly against fiber-optic-guided drones reportedly used by Hezbollah, which have become a growing challenge for the occupation’s air defense systems.
The deal follows two years of extensive testing of the new radar technology, during which the system reportedly demonstrated a high level of effectiveness in detecting complex aerial and ground threats compared with more expensive competing systems.
The occupation’s sources said drone threats have evolved from a potential future risk into an operational reality during recent rounds of fighting, citing the widespread use of drones in conflicts such as the war in Ukraine for attack missions, intelligence gathering, and artillery targeting.
