Protests in Mukalla block “Al-Ghuwaizi” road for fourth day

HADRAMOUT, June 29 (YPA) – For the fourth consecutive day, residents of the Dis Al-Mukalla district in Hadramout Governorate in eastern Yemen continue to block the Al-Jadhman road in the “Al-Ghuwayzi” area.

The action comes in protest against the deteriorating electricity service, the decline of basic services, and a rejection of power outages that last up to 8 hours against only two hours of supply, as well as in condemnation of the spiraling prices of petroleum products.

The protesters initiated their escalatory steps last Friday by preventing the passage of trucks and oil tankers while keeping the road open for citizens’ vehicles. They demand urgent solutions to the electricity crisis and a reduction in fuel prices, amid growing public calls to escalate their protests against the Saudi-backed authorities.

Residents of the area affirmed their determination to continue blocking the road until the local authorities respond to their legitimate demands.
