CARACAS, June 27 (YPA) –The death toll from the two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening has risen to 920, as search and rescue operations continued on Friday. The United Nations estimated that more than 50,000 people remain missing.
Jorge Rodríguez, President of Venezuela’s National Assembly, announced that the number of victims from the two earthquakes, which measured 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, had climbed to 920, according to international news agencies.
The previous official death toll stood at 589.
