TIRANA, June 21 (YPA) – Thousands of Albanians continued their demonstrations for the 21st day on Sunday, protesting a $1.6 billion tourist complex project in the Zvernik area of Vlorë, which is believed to be linked to Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump.
In Tirana, protesters chanted “Stop the project” and held banners reading “Albania is not for sale” and “Ivanka, go back to your country,” demanding that the government cancel the project due to fears of environmental damage and corruption.
The project is being carried out by Kushner’s Affinity Partners on an island off the coast of Albania and the Vjësa-Narta wetland, home to flamingos and sea turtles, while activists have warned of its impact on hundreds of hectares of pristine beaches and thousands of birds.
The protesters announced that the demonstrations would continue daily until the Prime Minister resigns, while the special prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into the project.
