Mass vigils in Sanaa affirm support for resistance axis, readiness for confrontation

SANAA, June 12 (YPA) – Mass vigils were held on Friday across the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces under the slogan “One Front, One Enemy,” to signal readiness for potential regional escalation and emphasize alignment with the broader “Axis of Resistance.”

Following Friday prayers, demonstrators gathered to voice support for the Palestinian population in Gaza and regional allied groups, declaring their preparedness to respond to any security developments or military escalation in the region.

Participants chanted slogans condemning the Israeli and American aggression, which they described as threats to regional stability and security. They also reiterated their backing for the operations of the Yemeni armed forces and their regional allies.

A formal statement issued by the vigils organizers framed the demonstrations as a “religious and moral duty” toward Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who face ongoing Israeli violations, a strict blockade, and severe shortages of humanitarian and medical supplies. The statement also highlighted continued tensions surrounding the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Quds (Jerusalem) and ongoing military operations in Lebanon.

Furthermore, the statement criticized recent US and Israeli military attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning that such actions jeopardize international maritime trade routes and destabilize regional security.

The organizers stressed that the Yemeni public would not remain passive regarding developments affecting Islamic holy sites and regional populations, calling for continued public mobilization and the resumption of readiness programs.

The statement concluded by commending recent Iranian military responses to recent hostilities, while paying tribute to Palestinian factions in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. It also criticized certain Arab and Islamic nations for allowing their airspace or territories to be utilized in US and Israeli military operations, characterizing the move as complicity and urging the populations of those countries to voice their opposition.
