Iran’s IRGC shoot down American MQ1 drone

TEHRAN, May 31 (YPA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday that it had shot down an MQ-1 drone belonging to the U.S. military after it entered Iranian territorial airspace over its waters to carry out a hostile mission.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, citing a statement carried by the IRGC’s news outlet, the drone entered Iranian airspace in the early hours of Sunday and was immediately detected and engaged by the Guard’s air defense systems.

The statement said the aircraft was targeted with missiles from an advanced air defense system and subsequently downed.

IRGC’s Air Defense Force stressed that Iran maintains full control over its territorial airspace and waters, warning that any violation or act of aggression would receive a firm response.
