Hamas mourns senior commander martyred in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

GAZA, May 27 (YPA) – The Hamas Movement declared on Wednesday the martyrdom of senior military commander Mohammed Odeh of the Al-Qassam Brigades, who was killed on Tuesday alongside his wife and two sons in an Israeli occupation airstrike targeting a residential building in Gaza City.

In a statement, Hamas said Odeh was among the founding figures of the military wing and played a key role over more than three decades in military planning, preparation, and development, extending through the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation.

The movement described Odeh as one of its prominent commanders who operated away from the media spotlight and contributed to coordinating efforts and expertise within the Al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas also noted that he had been pursued by Israel for many years.

The movement’s statement stressed that the targeting of Palestinian leaders, along with the continued siege, assassinations, and starvation policies in Gaza, would not succeed in breaking the will of the Palestinian people or their resistance, adding that the blood of those killed would continue to fuel the path of struggle and steadfastness.
