BEIRUT, May 27 (YPA) – The Islamic resistance in Lebanon announced on Wednesday that its fighters confronted an attempted incursion by Israeli occupation forces toward the eastern town of Zoutar, engaging Israeli soldiers and targeting a Merkava tank, as well as gatherings of enemy troops and military vehicles in the area.
In four separate statements, the resistance said the operations were carried out in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and attacks on southern Lebanese villages that resulted in civilian casualties. The operations are part of the battle of the Eaten Storm.”
According to the first statement, resistance fighters began targeting occupation forces advancing toward the riverbed area in eastern Zoutar at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, using rocket launchers, artillery shells, and heavy rockets.
In a second statement, the resistance said its fighters engaged Israeli troops at close range at the Scout Complex in eastern Zoutar at 9:00 a.m., using light and medium weapons. The clashes reportedly forced the occupation forces to withdraw before launching intensive fire belts across the area.
The third statement said resistance fighters targeted a Merkava tank in the Zattam Grove area of eastern Zoutar at 11:10 a.m. using “Ababil” attack drones.
In its fourth statement, the resistance announced that at 12:10 p.m., its fighters struck a gathering of Israeli military vehicles and soldiers at Khazzan Hill in eastern Zoutar using rocket fire.
The Islamic resistance in Lebanon continues to carry out military operations amid ongoing tensions along the Lebanese border, citing repeated occupation attacks, violations of understandings, and strikes targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
