Syrian civilian killed by Turkish border guards near Kobani

DAMASCUS, May 11 (YPA) – A Syrian civilian was killed after being shot by Turkish border guards while working on agricultural land near the city of Kobani in northern Syria, in what marks another incident along the border region.

According to North Press Agency, a relative of the victim said the man was targeted by members of the Turkish “Gendarmerie” while irrigating farmland in the village of Kikan, east of Kobani, resulting in his death at the scene.

The incident comes only days after the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the discovery of the body of a young man allegedly shot by Turkish border guards in the village of Salib Qaran in the western countryside of Tel Abyad, highlighting continued reports of shootings near the Syrian-Turkish border.

The repeated incidents have fueled growing concern and anger among local residents, particularly as civilians working in agriculture or moving near border areas continue to be exposed to danger, amid calls from rights advocates for investigations and accountability.
