Iran denies Gulf media reports on new Hormuz transit rules

TEHRAN, May 07 (YPA) – An informed Iranian source denied reports circulated by some Gulf media outlets regarding alleged new procedures governing ship movements through the Strait of Hormuz, describing the published information as inaccurate.

According to Iran’s Mizan agency, the source said Tehran has recently developed a new framework aimed at strengthening its sovereign oversight in the Strait of Hormuz, and that vessels seeking passage have been notified of the applicable regulations.

The source added that no official authority has yet disclosed the full details of the mechanism, but noted that ships intending to transit are expected to comply with the new system and obtain prior authorization.
