EU launches program to support victims of settler attacks in West Bank

RAMALLAH, April 30 (YPA) – The European Union Representative to Palestine Alexandre Stutzmann announced the launch of a new EU program aimed at assisting victims of settler attacks in the West Bank and enhancing their protection.

Stutzmann said the initiative seeks to provide proactive protection through volunteer groups deployed on the ground, alongside establishing a comprehensive system to improve the safety and security of affected Palestinian communities.

He explained that the European Union views settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank as a “wake-up call. Unfortunately, we were unable to prevent these incidents, but we can work to ensure they are not repeated.”

He added that the European Union is currently considering firm political measures, alongside additional steps, including the rollout of the victim support program.

The remarks came during a field visit organized on Wednesday for the diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Palestine, with the participation of the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Christophe Bigot and several international ambassadors.
