Tribal armed clashes erupt near Ataq Airport in Shabwa

SHABWA, April 27 (YPA) – Violent clashes broke out on Monday near Ataq Airport in Shabwa governorate controlled by the Saudi-backed forces, eastern Yemen, between gunmen from the “Al Al-Aadh” and “Al Suleiman” tribes.

Local sources reported that the fighting, which involved light and medium weapons, was sparked by a sharp dispute over land plots. The intensity of the exchange caused widespread panic among residents and passersby amid a total absence of security intervention.

While no casualties have been confirmed, tensions remain high. The incident is the latest in a series of security collapses and tribal feuds that have plagued Shabwa since 2016, fueled by the vacuum of state authority.
